The LucidSound LS31 Wireless-Review
Introduction
The LucidSound LS31 Wireless is a decent gaming headset with several control options, but it takes some getting accustomed to it. It provides adequate audio representation and is comfy for extended gaming sessions. It also has dual-microphone technology for precise speech recording and transmission. Unfortunately, the headset feels fairly loose on the head and does not form an airtight seal, which is critical for isolating ambient sounds, implying that it will be best suited for quiet areas. On the plus side, the USB dongle decreases latency to a negligible level that you won’t notice, and you’ll be able to play your games from the comfort of your sofa owing to their strong wireless range.

Features of LucidSound LS31 Wireless
Style
When the microphone is removed, the LucidSound LS31 Wireless looks nothing like a gaming headset. They appear to be standard headphones with considerable cushioning, but the thin plastic cups make them appear cheap. They have a shiny finish on the headframe and surrounding the cups, which provides it with a premium appearance, but the headset does not feel expensive. It also only has one color scheme option.
Comfort
The LucidSound LS31 Wireless is a comfy headset that will allow you to play for extended periods of time. The cups are well-padded, and the headbands is as well. Despite its hefty look, this headset is rather light. Their compressive stress is also minimal, and they feel a little loose on the head, that some people may find uncomfortable. The rigid ear cups, on the other hand, may cause them to feel a little tighter for some.
Controls
The LucidSound LS31 Wireless has a good control scheme with a lot of choices, but it may be difficult to use, especially straight out of the box. Each cup has a dial and a button. The left ear cup dial controls “game audio,” which is any audio that comes through to the headphones that isn’t from a third-party voice-chat app. This effectively makes it a volume control for any games, Spotify/music applications, video players, or any other audio originating from your browser.
The right dial regulates conversation loudness. One press on the left ear cup totally mutes the headphones, game, and chat audio. A simple touch on the right ear cup mutes or unmutes the microphone, whereas a three-second hold is required for mic monitoring. However, mic monitoring, or sidetone, is regulated by the game audio slider (left), which is counter-productive because lowering your own voice lowers game audio.
It’s also worth noting that an in-game chat system qualifies as game audio rather than conversation audio (we tested it in League of Legends, Overwatch, and CS:GO). This means you won’t be able to mute your online teammates without also muting the game audio. You also receive an EQ button that allows you to switch between bass, default, and treble sound profiles. Some people may find the buttons to be overly sensitive and frequently register undesirable activities.
Breathability
The LucidSound LS31 Wireless, like other over-ear and gaming headsets, isn’t especially breathable. Their design retains heat inside the ear cups, so you may notice a temperature difference if you wear them for an extended period of time. This headset is not suitable for athletics because you will sweat much more usual.
Portability
The LucidSound LS31 Wireless is a hefty over-ear headset that, like other gaming headsets, is not very portable. However, gaming headsets are generally stationary and do not need to be transported frequently. If you need to carry them with you, the cups swivel, making it simpler to fit them in a bag.
Build Quality
The LucidSound LS31 gaming headset is well-made. The metal headband has a sturdy yet flexible feel to it. Regrettably, the cups are composed of thin metal that appears to be cheap and may break due to collisions. Furthermore, while the hinges appear to be metal, they are plastic laminate with a metallic sheen and will not be particularly sturdy.
Stability
This headset does not sit well on the head. Tilting your head will not create much movement, but when your head moves more, the weight of the cups will force them to fall off. Fortunately, their wireless design removes the possibility of a cable becoming entangled and tugging the headset off your head. This shouldn’t be an issue during game sessions, but this large headset was clearly not designed for physical activity.
Recording Quailty
The LucidSound LS31’s boom mic has excellent recording quality. The LFE (low-frequency extension) is set at 24Hz, which is excellent. As a result, recorded/transmitted voice sounds full-bodied. Because of the 4.7kHz HFE (high-frequency extension), captured voice will be highly comprehensive and present. Speech sounds natural because the response between both the LFE and HFE points are flat and even. Because we couldn’t change the level of the microphone on the test PC, the audio playback sounded a little distorted.
Noise Handling
The boom mic on the LucidSound LS31 is excellent at noise reduction. In our SpNR test, it obtained a speech-to-noise ratio of 35dB, indicating that it can effectively differentiate speech from ambient noise in highly noisy venues such as gaming conventions.
Battery
The LucidSound LS31 has an impressive 17-hour battery life, allowing you to play for extended periods of time. They take around three hours to completely charge, however you may charge these while that still use them. People who can sit near to their source of power should have no trouble with this. Unfortunately, they lack any power-saving features that would allow you to increase battery capacity if you forgot to switch them off.
Wired
All consoles and PCs can utilise the LucidSound LS31 with a wired connection. You will have audio and microphone support. The Mini-TOSLINK (3.5mm/optical) input connector on the dongle is standard.
Imaging
The image on the LucidSound LS31 Wireless headphones is excellent. Their average mean group delay is 0.26, which is excellent. The GD graph demonstrates that the group delay is completely below the audibility threshold. Furthermore, the amplitude, phase, and frequency of our test unit’s L/R drivers were very well-matched, ensuring precise placement and localization of items (speech, instruments, footfall) in the stereo picture. These results, however, are only valid for our unit; yours may perform differently.
